Best Air Filter replacemnt system 2006 F250 diesel

Wanting to replace the air filter system with one that is easy to clean, remove & replace. we are now using an AFE filter in the original air filter compartment but it is not easy to remove for cleaning or to replace.

The best is the OEM. They typically last 50k miles or more, and they flow and protect better than anything else. No point in fixing what ain't broke.

+1 A good quality air filter is critical to engine longevity. Here's a good place to get one..

Ford 6.0 Liter Turbo Diesel Motorcraft FA-1778 Air Filter(FA1778): F-Series/Excursion

BTW, I have 78K on my original one and the dealer says it's fine when I ask them to check...

The stock filter is a fine piece of engineering, will hold 10lbs of dust before clogging and flows pretty dang good. Why would you use anything else????

50K miles sounds like you stay on clean paved roads.
i drive a lot od dirty dusty back roads as well as very dusty dirt roads.
lucky to get 30K miles to a $80+ dollar filter, more for ford named products off the same assembly line in communist china.

need to find a way for a rebuild/replace deal as having to buy a filter AND housing three to four times a year is getting very costly.
(if only a way to only replace the filter NOT the housing. as it never wears out)
and my power suffers about 20K miles worth of driving.
AKA: loss of off the start, passing, pulling hills. and mpg suffers.
no not a hotrod. i am a slow 57 year old driver. but lightly touching the skinny pedal vers pushing down on it just to go from that stop..

Are you replacing it when the filter minder sucks in? I think I only have 85k on mine right now... Not bad for a $50 filter.

With that kind of dust load I think you'd want to stick with a pleated type filter. I think most after markets are an oil cotton type like a K&N. Might save money on having to buy filters but I'd be very worried about injesting dust into the intake while wreaks havoc on the turbo blades.

Dirtbikes run oiled foam filters but I'm typically I'm having to clean it after every ride when its dusty!

You can buy the stock filter for $47 at Dieselfilters online:
