OK, well it seems that I have blown one of the speakers in my back door, but I am unable to find instructions on how to remove the parts of the door. I was able to do it on my 1999 with my eyes closed, but would like a little insight if anyone has some that they could share. I have a 09 Platinum F-150.
Also what would your recommendation be to replace the speaker? I am looking at JL Audio TR570-CXi, but I am open for suggestions. Thank you for your assistance.
two screws below the door. one screw in door handle (remove little square cap inside the cup of the handle). Remove upper door trim piece (above door lock) by pulling it out. Then remove the scre behind it.
Unhook wire connector and let door hang from lock cable.
If you're not gonna push the speakers with an amp, I wouldn't worry too much about the replacement speakers. Not less than $50 a pair and not more than $100 a pair, IF you're not running an amp. JMO
If you put after market speaks in it, let me know how they sound. I have not gotten my truck yet, but the ones that I have been in have just the standard stereo, and they lack the high end in the front badly. They need A piller tweeters.
I am either going to try and get some of those for the truck, or I am going to put a good coax speak in the front doors to give me some crispness that this stereo needs.
I would think the Sony system should sound pretty good, but the standard leaves you needing a little more.
I got it done. If you have a platinum there is not the screw at the bottom of the door handle, but you need to remove the black piece behind the door handle. Pry from the side furthest away from the handle and it will shoe you a screw that needs to be removed with all of the other screws. The first door took me about an hour and a half and the second door too 20 minutes.
