2004 F-450 140,000 mi.For the last 25k or so it doesn't have the power it once did.I also pull a gooseneck trailer almost daily (15k-18k lbs) when I get on the hwy and put it to the floor there is no black smoke.I would say almost 99.9% off all diesle trucks blow black smoke when under a load especially a max load. Also there is no codes in the comp. What could it be thanx.Sorry one more thing not as good fuel milage either.thanx
I do regular maint. on the truck. oil and filter-5k,fuel filters-15k,air filter-20k.I know that black smoke is unburnt fuel,I guess my question should be is there enough fuel flowing. How do I know if my injectors are working fine?Is there a buzz test like on the 7.3?also why the lack of power along with the poor fuel mileage?
