Problem im having is it will fire with the key turned to start but when released it cuts out.Ignition control module on the inner fender has been replaced with a new item recently as it had no spark, now it sparks but wont run in 'Run' position.
Any ideas guys..got 12volt at the + side of the coil in run and start.

Next check the power inputs to the ignition control module on the inner fender. There are 2 connector plugs, the 2 wire plug is the input power. There is a red and a white wire coming out of a blue plastic grommet on the bottom of the module. The red wire will have power in run and start. The white wire will have power in start only.
I would also put a 12v test light on the coil negative to see if it blinks, a blinking light means you have spark. If it stops blinking after you move the key from start to run it is a spark/ignition problem.
Looks like the red and white wires are in the wrong spots. The red should have power all the time and the white should have power during start.
Thats my thinking after reading a thread on this forum about aftermarket modules being manufactured with those 2 wires crossed...soon as its light im gonna swap them over and see what occurs.
Well i never got the chance to try the new wiring setup as i turned the key only to hear 'crunch,grind,crunch,boom'..you guessed it,starter drive exploded so it looks like im shopping for a new part, judging by the remains of the gear it was on its way out as the teeth were badly worn...luckily the flex plate is damage free.
