83 ford f250 spark problem

83 ford f250
I have a 83 ford f250 with a 351 v8 and a 4 speed trans trying to get it to run it doesn't have any spark when the ignition is in the crank position but has soon as I left off and the ignition goes to run it sparks. Any suggestions?

I am assuming you still have a Duraspark ignition, so as such, there are 2 inputs to the DS box, one is when the key is in crank, it supplies 12V to the box. When the key is turned back to Run, the resistor wire is used, and reduces the input voltage. So one of two things here is likely to be happening: Either the DS box is bad, or the ignition switch/wiring to the box is bad. The box can be taken to most parts stores and tested. The wiring and switch can be tested with a test light to verify there at least is power getting through. This would be the 2 wire plug on the ignition box.
