The 94 to 97 Strokes need a different intake spyder to run an intercooler.
So they are not really much more intercooler ready than an IDI is.
The stock IDI turbo intake hat will not work with an intercooler without major plumbing.
The Stroke intake spyder is in exactly the same boat even though it looks completely different.
a quick refresher- I am DISCUSTED with my sandwhiched downpipe. I have a
94 7.3 IDI w/ factory turbo with the factory 2.25" outlet downpipe.
NO ONE makes a replacement factory downpipe for the PRE Powerstroke. There ARE however 3" DP's available BUT you need to change to the ATS turbo rear housing OR buy a WHOLE NEW turbo kit! $$$$$$
So this is what I ended up doing. I brought my rig into George at Left Coast Diesel in Concord Ca. He pulled out the ****ty DP and make a custom 2.25" DP and replaced it. He also removed my Flowmaster. So now im straight piped with a MUCH BETTER DP!!!! Everything for only $200 !!!!
So is there a noticeable difference?
F**K YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it feels like a shaved 600lbs off my truck. The low end is DRAMATICALLY improved!!!!
and the truck is EXACTLY the same sound!!!! Not even a decible louder!!!!!!
Very very pleased.
So next up, Im going to fab up a custom ram air intake.
way to go on the dp glad u like it and can feel the difference now just get some more air into that engine with you and joe350's ram air set up and youll be good to go
yeah, that was a real low quality thing for ford to do with that down pipe.sick really.
lots of OEM things are made just to work and get off the assembly line though.
today not so much.but look at the price you need to pay.thats sick too lmao.
