What's the result of using Dexron/Mercon in a 4R100 trans?

That's what the factory fill was on these transmissions.

When it was built the right fluid was DEXRON III/MERCON. GM discontinued DEXRON III and Ford discountinued MERCON. MERCON V is now the right fluid.

Be greatful, us Torqshift 5R110W guys have to use MERCON SP. A white puppy in a snowstorm is easier to find than this stuff... pretty much HAVE to go to the dealership... like they don't get ENOUGH of my money!

the factory drain plug in the tranny pan is a wonderful thing...and so is the cheap mercon fluid
