Changing my computer code help????
I hear that i can have my ecu reflashed to a better one, is this true?
i have the PMT3 which i hear sucks, like it doesnt like to lock up the torqe converter and more, it feels like my tranny slips on ocasion when i stomp on it , where do i get my computer reprogramed and to what code to you all suggest, i have a 2001 F-350 psd automatic
......... is this expensive to do, i have a 65hp superchip installed everything else is stock......... Thanks .

Changing my computer code help????
I didn't recommend one. PMT3 is the latest in the PMT series. Though other codes such as NVK will program and work fine in your ECU, dealers don't reflash without a reason. Will they give you a hard time... I've never been to your dealer so I can't answer that.

Changing my computer code help????
you can also try a 4-bank chip instead of a single bank chip. From what I understand, you can program a 4-bank chip w/ a different pcm code. The chip is a little slower to respond since it processing 4-times the info as per a single bank

1976 Diesel,
I think you might have it kind of backwards A single file bank chip can only hold 32K memory I think and that’s all that you needed in the earlier model truck because the brain size was small, in 98 The 99 were introduced and they had much more data in there computers, When the 4 bank chip was introduced in late 99 there was only one company out there that had it. (TTS), in 2000 another company also came out with it too (Diablo) Since then the majority of the companies have gone to this, Reason being that they will hold more data The processor controls the speed not the bank , Plus By going to this type of chip you can run different codes but only in the same family of ECM codes you can not take a DAC-3 code and change it to an NVK-4 code it will not work, and if you know codes you will know why, But you can take a NVK-4 and run it on a NMC-1 computer if you know what you are doing,

Changing my computer code help????
Its been while since chips were 32k. Most are now 57K for single bank chips due to the larger ROM size and 256K for 4 bank chips.
PMT3 is a heck of a lot better than PMT2. PMT2 dyno's about 20HP less than PMT3.
The DPC-422 is used by a large number of ECU codes. NVKx, YEVx, RXMx, MRTx, LVSx, YLEx, CNHx, PMTx, HAMx, MNMx, LSLx, KRKx, BKAx, JLJx, etc.
For PMTx computers we've programmed tons of chips using NVK codes with great success and MNM1 codes in a few instances where customers desire MNM characteristics. There are very few cases where we'd use an PMTx code in a chip.

Most of whaat you are saying is correct and I do agree But the PMT codes have tobe the worst that Ford has put out thats way most of the programmers recomend a NVK code I have ran the NVK code serveral times and the shift patterns a nice, but the shift patterns in the MNM code are set a bit differant and seem to work much better in the higher horse powered truck the the NVK code Most of us out in CA seek the MNM computer or the NVK computer and we like to stay way away from any PMT or NMC computers. Now one is definetaly a CA computer and and even though we live here does not mean we have to run CA codes

Changing my computer code help????
You disagreed with something I didn't even say ....
All of what I am saying is true, not some of it. Please read again what I said. I said I didn't use PMT codes. I use NVK instead except when someone wants the torque converter characteristics of MNM. The only time I use a PMT code is if someone sends me an older 1 bank chip for reprogramming and they have a PMTx ECU (unless they get their dealer to reflash).

Neither did I read it
I said the PMT code has got to be the worst that Ford has ever put out
Now tell me where I said you are reflashing to the PMT code??????????????????????You disagreed with something I didn't even say ....

You are the one that is saying you use the PMT code not I
lighten up
