Question computer codes for 1988 2.0 4 cyl

Hi
I keep reading there are computer codes for various problems,
Would like to know if there is a computer in my 1988 ford ranger 2.0 liter engine, 4 cyl?

Thanks

I see you don't have any replies, so I'll see if I an get things started.

Yes your 1988 Ranger has an OBD-1 ECM computer. So you should have a dash mounted Check Engine Light (CEL) that if not burned out, should light up at KOEO for a self test, before you crank the engine. If the CEL isn't burned out, you can use a jumper wire in the under hood DLC to have the CEL blink any stored trouble codes.

A forum search will turn up links on how to extract any stored trouble codes, which can offer up good trouble shooting clues.
