Need Help with Mercury serial number
Need Help with Mercury serial number
Being a Canadian truck, I've been having trouble finding any sort of information to decode the serial number of my '47 1-ton. I've tried to get a hold of the Ford Canada archives but haven't had any luck. A web search hasn't netted any results for the Canadian trucks either.
I'm hoping someone here has some information that will help me out.
Here's what I know.
S/N: 412H47-78610 (the frame numbers match the numbers on the ID plate on the firewall)
Engine code: 6J-6548 (from the transmission, matches the numbers on the ID tag on the firewall)
Trim: M-18001-J (from the ID tag)
Paint: M-1800-B (from the ID tag)
It's got the 4spd transmission with PTO.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the site. Have you tried Mercurypickup.com?My thing is 53 - 56 so I can't be of help to you, sorry. If you could post more info about your truck I'm sure others here would be interested. Also where you are located. Good luck.
I've been through the mercurypickup.com website with a fine tooth comb and sent a message to the owner as well. There's not much info for these Canadian trucks to be found it seems.
Hopefully someone here has some info stashed away some where!
I'll keep digging...
There are some pics posted on my Gallery page. Unfortunately what I know about this truck is limited to what I'm discovering as it gets torn apart. I know it was a farm truck from western Canada (Saskatchewan I believe). I know the previous owner did some questionable work to try and get it to look more like a 1/2 ton truck. Overall it's in really good shape, but as I come across things that just don't look right, I'll keep asking here to see if anyone can give some more insight.

It seems awkward, but whenever you "insert a picture" to one of these threads, the forum is looking for the picture somewhere on the web (which is always available) rather than from somewhere on your hard drive (which isn't always available).

Hi again
. I went to Mercurypickup.com and see what you mean, not very helpful. The only other thing that I can think to do is to do a post on the 1948 - 1956 F1,F100 & Larger F-Series site and ask your questions there. There is a very helpful fellow there that goes by 52 Merc that seems to be very knowledgeable about pre 52 Mercury pickups. Perhaps he can help you.
Good luck.
