You need to find a dealership that services allot of diesels... there are far too many dealers that only see a 1 or 2 6.0 diesels per year... Find a large dealer and take it there. Are you near any big cities?

I am in a coal town where everyone has a diesel.. While mine is in the shop, there usually is at least 4-5 other diesel's in the shop at the same time. Mine usually has to sit at least a week before it gets into the shop.

This has been an interesting thread. First, you are no candidate for a lemon truck. I would agree the dealership has dropped the ball from what you posted. To many of us own these trucks and know what can be done.

My advice is get out of coal town and find a dealer for a fresh start. Some good advice from the group has been offered to you, especially oil and water temperature differences. Get your truck back from the dealer and run before they start pulling injectors....

Based on what I'm getting from you about the dealership and their stellar service, I'm not surprised that they have them lined up to get into the shop.

I don't know, but the 6.0s aren't as bad to work on as lot of people would think and there are tons of write ups and access to pdfs that have detailed information on even the more "complicated" fixes. It might actually be better and cheaper to either try to do as much as you can yourself(I would suggest investing in something like AE though, that will help a lot) or if your not comfortable then try to find a good indy shop. I just cannot put my finger on it, but something just doesn't seem right with the shop you're at.

rather then justr slap a $800 dollar part on. why not just use a volt meter and do a little bit of proper diag.

so far as finding out is a tech is good. not really any way to do that out here.

46 volts for the FICM is a little low. Correct me if I am wrong Cheezit, but shouldnt the voltage be 48 volts.

Like I said before, and others have advised you go to a diferent dealership.

We are not telling you that to make you mad, but the dealer you are at obviously doesnt know how to fix your truck.

It sounds to me like you have several issues that they dont know how to diagnose and you ae the one that is suffering. But the key is get the ruck out of that dealer and get another opionoin, and not the other dealer that you took it too.

45v is min voltage. they seem to run fine at 45v. 48 is the expected reading though.
I would run the truck at 2k rpm and moniter ficm voltage to see if it continued to drop as system demand went up. some will some will not.

Ok got the truck back on Friday and it ran good while it was warm outside.... but this morning when it was still chilly outside, the truck went back to missing, but nothing like it was before they put the new injector in it. So it makes me really think the other injector that the other dealership had said was bad, it really bad. It's not bad enough to make it hesitate enough to only make it run 35 mph but it's enough to make it run rough. Back to the dealership to have them fix it AGAIN. I know they hate to see me come.

Not exactly true. They could have botched the installation of that one injector. Damaged something or overtightened the oil rail that is causing a small oil leak, so the injector isn't firing like it should. I'm not saying that you don't have another bad or going bad injector, but the injector that they did just install may not be working either.

Trust me on the two scenerios that I just mentioned, there is a very good reason why those came so quickly to me for this posting.

But it's been running just fine all weekend... It has never run rough as long as it's been warm or the motors been warm.. Only when it's cold. This has been the only cool morning since they put the new injector in. The first dealership told me the 2 and 5 injector were bad. The dealership that actually did the repairs, told me only the 2 injector was bad. They only change the 2 injector. I have had better luck with this dealership all in all. BUT.......... I know when I did get up this morning.. being the cooler morning that I have had... it does have a small miss at cold start and once it warmed up, the miss did go away.. just as before. So it made me think that the other injector was also bad. Your thoughts??

Check the weather. Leave the truck at the dealer overnight with cold.

Then go there and start it in their presence.

Video it and show us.

I'm going to try to leave it at the dealership in the morning.. I hope that It does it in the morning.. Not sure if it will do it enough to see on video now.. before they changed the number 2.. you would have been able to see it.. it would knock the change out of the ash tray. LOL. I will try. How is the best way to video to get the best affects??

saycheese,

Wow, I am astounded at the level of dealership incompetence you have endured. This is the number 1 contributor to the bad reputation the 6.0 endures. It is also the ammunition supply line for the bashers of the 6.0's "huge warranty claims and a billion dollars in payout" rants. Maximums post has it right on. You need to find a dealer that knows what they are doing. You have been blessed here by the free advice of several of the top Ford Dealership Certified 6.0 technicians who help out on this site. Heed their advice and find a good dealer. I wish you well

Regards
