Either the glow plugs or the glow plug relay more than likely. You can ohm out your GP's and also verify that you GPR is working.

What kind of meter am I looking at buying to do this ? I've never dealt with wiring like this I've wired up some tail lights and tacks and very very few gauges. And does any body know were I can buy one of those stancore relays ? And a link or list of what I need to do the LED mod ?

Thanks guys

All you need is a standard multi-meter or even a simple 12v test light (the kind that looks like an ice pick with a light inside the handle and a black wire coming out of the top.

You would first need to identify where your glow plug relay is. Most trucks have two relays that look identical. One is for the glow plugs and the other is for the air intake heater. If you stand over the passenger side fender and peek into the valley of your engine, you will see both relays. The relay closest to the firewall is for your glow plugs. The relay closest to the radiator is for the air intake heater. Each relay has a pair of large wires and a pair of small wires. The large wires that have the rubber boots are hot all the time so stay away from those. The exposed terminal is where you test for power. Connect the positive lead from your multi meter to the exposed large terminal and the black lead to ground. Set your multi meter to DC volts and have someone turn the ignition to the run position without starting the truck. You should be reading about 12-13 volts or so (but only for a brief time, which varies depending on a bunch of other conditions...). If you get nothing, then your relay is probably bad.

You can check this by swapping the AIH and Glow Plug relays because it is not likely that both are bad. If you decide to do that, make sure you disconnect the negative cables on BOTH of your batteries first.
Here is a photo that may help.
