Am putting a 1979 externally balanced 460 in front of a C-6 in my 79 Ford truck. Was wondering if it required the load-spreader ring just back of the flex plate or is that only on internally balanced 460's. Thanks
Are you talking about the small metal shim, flat ring like deal that just has the flexplate bolt pattern on it?
I used the same year, 460 truck enigne in my 82 swap with a C-6 and there was not one on mine. The motor had never been out, and my son and I pulled it and tore it down and did the re-build, so I know for sure mine did not have one.
I would say if yours came with it, use it. If not, don't.
