My frame split under my power steering box ,on my 79 f150. It split on the side of frame ,right along the bottom, just as it rolls back under. I'm sure it is from the stress off the 35"s . I think i have to remove the box itself and weld a plate on the inside somehow, Anyone ever have this happen before?. If so, what did you do?. I know just welding it,will just split again.

Might as well go ahead and box the frame while youre at it....weld the plate on the inside the frame and box the c of the frame up....its cracking cause of flex...gotta stop that to stop the crackin.....my 78 Bronco broke the main shaft in the steering box once cause of some out of balance 44s. I just had a crack fixed in my frame on my 79, a few weeks ago, would have posted pics, but the weather and my work schedule have yet to coincide with one another. From what I can tell, they removed the front crossmember, drilled a hole in each end of the crack to stop it from spreading, then they filled, patched it, and I think they put in a gusset of some kind. It looks pretty good, you have to look for it to notice it. It only cost me $120. Check your track bar bushings, I am only running 33's but the bushings had all but fallen from my track bar, and the steering would carry the cab of the truck over a few inches before the wheels would turn.
