I might have half luck if I understood what was going on, are you guys saying I have something missing?
In Post #57 I alluded to that.
If you don't understand what is going on, we're going to have a difficult time helping you get this resolved. We can provide the information, but you need to be able to assimilate it in a way that allows you to take the proper action to correct the problem.
The only way around that is to have someone who does understand what we're saying come over and do it for you.
It was just alot of information. If you are saying my truck did not come with tow package originally, it sure looks like it when you look at the wiring harness by the hitch. I think I will just run a new wire and be done with it. It just seems weird that everything else works fine. Thanks.

These trucks were made to pull 'stuff'.... it would be very very strange if it did not come with some type of a 'tow package'
Believe-it-or-not, without the "tow package" they didn't come with all the wiring unless it got ordered or added. If it was factory-ordered, it got the receiver and all the wiring.
If it was added by a dealer, it got a "kit", which included the wiring harness with the 'doghouse" which I described above. When I got my truck it had a receiver, but all the electrical was missing. I was able to find the electrical kit on eBay a few years ago and installed it. That's how I know about this.

I bought my truck 8 years old and it was used by utility co for towing as well.
But evidently they never used electric trailer brakes.
To hook up brake controller took me over 1 hr to find the harness buried deep under the dash (would never find it without this forum help) than I had to plug the fuse for the brakes, than find wire taped at the rear gate, than replace the 6 prong with 7 prong and hook up trailer brakes wire.
BTW check local law for break away switch. CA require them on all trailers (having brakes what is over 1500 lb) and I had to retrofit the older trailer with it.
Kajtek1, just FYI, in case it makes a difference, this setup definitely has trailer brakes along with all the other options, the only thing we can pin down is how it's charging the camper/trailer battery.
I dont normally make this suggestion, if you head to a place that sells campers, they will normally have the electric control, as well as a harness there for install. Might be worth it for you to have the install done.
After attending Riffraff West, they guys have determined that I do not have the doghouse for the 39 & 40 towing relays, so I will have to come up with something else.
