Radio interference when applying brakes

97 Expy stock radio w/single CD. No interference when driving/engine running, only when using brakes. Very bad static/snow noise like no antenna.
Brake lights are working fine. Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds like a grounding issue somewhere. Maybe you have a poor ground to one of the bulb sockets. Any chance someone wired in trailer wiring using Scotch-Loc connectors rather than the factory-supplied pigtail plug?

Thanks for the reply Rod. No trailer harnesses installed. I'll pop the lenses and check the bulbs/sockets for damage or corrosion. Probably won't hurt to pull the radio unit and reseat all the plugs and antenna.
