351W an interference engine?

Sorry for the cross-post, but this is fairly urgent. Does anyone know if the 351w is an interference engine, or not?

THANKS!!!

An interference engine is one that is designed such that if the timing element (chain/belt, whatever) breaks or gets out of place, the pistons can impact the valves if they are down when the piston is on the upstroke - you end up with bent/broken valves, scored pistons, bent lifters, even potentially a broken/bent cam. It ain't pretty, when it goes bad.

Thanks for that info, Gavin

So! I guess it's a good thing, not to have an Interferance Engine.

By the way? I have a post thread "1986 f150 still bogging out"
maybe you can help me with my delemma?

Thanks: Al

I have seen Windsors bend valves when the nylon top gear loses its teeth. Not always, but can happen.

Is the 351HO an interference motor? If it is then that might explain why you've seen some that will bend valves and some that won't.
