I've got a power steering fluid leak as well, but can't seem to locate it. (I've only looked once for it.) Where are the areas I should be looking for the leak? Where was your leak and what was the fix??

This question is open to everyone..... Thanks!

1) Check to make sure you're power steering fluid is at the correct full level. Do NOT overfill it! Does the fill cap have a good seal and on securely?

2) If you have a power washer or you can stop by your local power-wash / hand-wand car washing location and power wash the bottom of the pump and all around the steering box. Don't spray the top of the pump as it's easy to get water blasted in around the fill cap.

3) Drive it far/long enough to ensure all the water has been blown/dried off it, then go home and shut off the engine. If you've still got water in the area, get your air hose out and blow dry the water out.

4) Before the power steering fluid cools off, get in there with a good hand light and do a careful inspection of the the length of the high pressure hose from the pump to the steering box and the connection at each end. If they all look good, then check over the length of the return hose (usually only a hose with standard hose clamps) and it's connections. Look for places along the length where something could have been rubbing a hole into the hose or into the sections of metal tubing. Look for a connection that has become loose or damaged. If you still can't locate any leaks, you may want to try sprinkling some baby powder on the lines & connections -- it can assist you in locating small leaks. If you still can't detect where the leak is, then I'd suggest you go for another ride and re-check it all again when you get back.

--- My bet it is there is a rubbed-in hole or seeping connection on the high pressure line.

Thank Barnie. I have checked the level, and it's not overfilled. But I have had to add fluid. I pretty sure the leak is coming from up near the reservoir because the drip falls down, hits the inside of the engine bay somewhere and collects on the lip or edge of the bottom of my engine crossmember before dripping on the floor.

I'll do like you siad and clean the area up, drive it a while, and come back and check the lines out.

(That will be one of the four leaks I need to fix! )
