What configuration are you wanting... crew cab, extended cab, regular cab? Do you want a short bed or long bed? 2X4 or 4X4? Automatic or manual transmission?
ok sooo how bad would a 5.4 be in this truck? found some really nice ones but its an 8100lb truck right so wouldnt that be really bad?
The 5.4 can handle your 4,800# camper. It won't beat your buddies though. Realistically it will be about what you have now. Question to ask yourself is, will you stay in a 4,800# trailer? People tend to think so, but in a year or two they upgrade, and find their truck struggles.
yeah my wife hates camping so probably stay with this one i want crew cab short bed to fit in my garage and automatic preferred man ive looked at every web site i can find and nothing in V-10 might have to go diesel and take the long way home LOLOLOL

Make sure you have enough height and width to get into your garage. I can only get mine in if someone holds the door open about 2" more than it will open on its own, and then once i get it in, i can't open the doors (its a single car garage)
OP, no, you will not be down grading... what you really need is a HiMark F-650! Lol
On a serious note, there are some things to consider before you decide. First of all, how easy is it to buy diesel in your area (if you run across a diesel truck). Also, resale value is something to consider, since the 250s typically hold more value than a 150. How is the value of the truck compared to your truck, i.e. have you done a lot of mods to your truck? Do you plan on eventually towing or hauling with it sometime down the road? Also keep in mind that even though a larger truck (especially if you decide to upgrade cabs or beds such as a Crew Cab or long bed can be more difficult to drive and park for the less experienced driver.
It basically all boils down to what you want out of your truck, but if you only drive it for commuting, then your 150 sounds like a better way to do to me.

ok well hum im good with the big truck i drive a 35 foot freightliner for work i think im good with the garage height but ill check that one for sure thanks man didn't think of that one i really do love the sound of a diesel and since ive checked three states around me today and no V-10 looks like diesel for me. thanks guys for all your help in this i might be owner of one tonight
Since you mentioned an '08 diesel, consider this. You might be able to find a brand new '10 with a V-10 for nearly the same price as an '08 diesel. And if you can hang on for 6 months, maybe get an '11 with the 6.2 for about the same money.
Personally, I'd get the truck. I would also be very mindful of the requirements of the new diesels and make sure that she is run as she was designed to run.
Likewise, the 2004 and 2009 generation F-150's (properly equipped) are plenty capable and will easily tow a 4800 lb trailer.
man Furian your the man thanks i just saw the link you provided that's awesome i found three i like already! and you might have saved me some serious cash! going to look at V-10s now
That right there is reason enough to get a Super Duty.
Here's my two cents: I bought a V10 because I don't use my truck enough to justify the maintenance of a diesel to spend an extra $3,000 on a used truck. Yes, a diesel gets better mileage, but the fuel cost is higher. For me a diesel just didn't make good economic sense.
