I started a thread a while back about my trip to the smog referee. Here's an update. The BAR denied my exemption. The parts locator found a catalytic converter for my truck. It's in Detroit and costs $2178.32 + shipping and handling. It's the OEM, not 4". Now I either need to find a cat from a salvage or send my truck to Oregon. 8 more years and I'm taking my California state retirement and moving. So far Oregon and Nevada are looking really good. Sorry guys, just my little rant

I will poke around here and see what i can find for you
You need a 4" cat? And does it have to be permanently installed? I could help you out with a 3.5" inlet/outlet cat off my OBS, but shipping to CA might be a killer.

I have the one i cut off of mine (stock). I didnt know they were so expensive!!!! give me a call!!! I'll PM you my #
I feel your pain!! Luckily (?) my Excursion has a BIG sticker under the hood which states it meets CA smog limits,Non-Catalytic Convertor. When it comes time for me to smog it, I hope this carries some weight!!!
I'm heading up to Yosemite next Monday for a week. If anyone has one here in SoCal for you, I'd be happy to bring it with me.....
Thanks Don. Have a good trip. As long as your VIN record also states "Non-cat" you're good.
Bob, Thanks for the research. Unfortunately all of those cats are not CARB compliant. So far it looks like Ed has everyone's prices beat. If Bama29fan's old cat has the right info on it I'll buy his and "make it fit".

Thanks to everybody else, too. If I can find a 4" Ca. cat I'll buy it. But from all of research so far I'm out of luck. Here's a pic of what is required.
Click on Exhaust---Click on Catalytic converter----click on page 5
not Cali legal Bob...won't help the OP...from what i could find, if the OP reduces the inlet and out size just before and just after the cat, they can be bought from summit fairly inexpensively and put ya' back legal...
This crap sucks...i will NEVER move to Cali...screw em, and screw the governator too......i just hope they don't start making us do this crap here in the deep south...i would just move to a dirty country and roll black coal everywhere...
I have one in my garage. Took it off about 6 months after I bought my truck so it has been sitting since early 99 in almost mint condition. They do smog here in CT but never had a problem not having a cat. Not sure if it is the same as pictured, I am on a business trip right now but will be home this weekend and can check. If you are interested in working a deal and want to pay for shipping you can pm me. I can take pictures when I get home. Those are ridiculous prices for a cat.
