Brilliant. Glad you mentioned the Ex, too bad I can't rep you for the reminder, have to spread it around first. The Excursion came with the GPCM, and I believe the rest of the CA emission stuff, so they should have a cat too. We also have an Excursion section here at FTE, so that would be a good place to start a new thread looking for a CAT.
Unless you're wanting to upgrade the exhaust on your wife's Ex. For what a new cat costs and as cheap as a 4" exhaust system is, you might get a pretty cheap upgrade.
Excursions did not come with catalytic converters.
Much like the L'99 and up 4R100 F250's have no cat, no Excursion ever came with a manual trans from the factory, so no cats on any Excursions. Thank God too because I tossed all that stuff when I ripped out the factory exhaust and installed my MBRP.
I wouldn't have kept the cats even if my Ex had 'em because I would have never thought diesels would be smogged in the future.

Then why the GPCM Stewart? The CA emission F250's came with a cat, auto or standard. The stick did come with a cat for some reason. I guess I just figured if it had the GPCM it also had all the other CA emission stuff.

L99 and up Cali trucks with 4R100's and GPCM's don't have cats. But I have heard of E99's having cats and auto transmissions. But every L99 7.3 PSD out here I've seen, with the 4R100, all have the no cat sticker on the valve cover.
My truck is a Cali truck and it didn't have a cat on it either.

you are correct my 2000 excursion with automatic and GPCM doesnt have a cat! YEA! heres the pics i just took
Those cats are for gassers. Nothing over a 5.4.
Ford is the only place you can get a Ca. Cat for our trucks.
I called one of the cat warehouses yesterday. He told me that the aftermarket has cats that will work on our trucks, but none of them have been approved by CARB.
I talked to a 6.0 guy today. He is getting geared up for the same issues. He cut his cat off right after buying the truck and tossed it in the dumpster.
After I get a cat and get everything all ironed out I'm going to start my own "loan a cat" program for all of my FTE brothers (and sisters).
I still have that three inch stock exhaust if you need it to help with installing a cat to get past the smog test. Pm me if you need it.
So this is only for the E99 trucks? I guess the demand will be lower than I was guessing then. So how does the E99 cat compare with the 96 - 97 model? Will an OBS cat work?
fyi...he pm'd me yesterday and said he was called in to work (fireman) so he probably cant check here that often.
Understand. I work on firefighting aircraft and know all about the "we need you now" calls. I have talked with him before when he started his first smog thread, he knows the exhaust is there if needed. For that matter, anyone else local con barrow it for smogs if needed.
UPDATE: Reps to bama29fan. We have been playing e-mail tag for a while now. He had to drive out of town just to get the #'s off his cat. Ford says his cat will work on my truck. So after all of his hard work we made a deal. I'll save some money and he will have a little something for the PMS fund.
Sorry it took me so long to answer the questions. I got called in to work on Tuesday morning. On the way in my battery light came on. I got off work this morning (Thursday) and did a little work on the truck. New batteries a new alternator and new belt and I'm back in business.
The truck is an E99 with a 4 speed auto rebuilt by Jim Dandy in Vacaville. Not sure what tranny came in the truck, but Clay said he likes the new one, and I trust his opinion.
Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions. That's one thing that makes this forum so great, and why I just renewed my supporter for 3 years...waiting on my shirt
