First trip a success!

As some of you may know just bought a 06 F-250 PSD with 73k miles on it about a month ago. Picked up our new 24' Laredo 5th wheel this Saturday and took it for the inaugural journey. Truck pulled it very well....no problems. Setup was a breeze but parking it in the storage unit for the first time was a little challenging

Many more trips planned for this summer. Happy camping to all.

Jason

Congrats on the new truck and fifth wheel. I hear ya on the storage unit. Just remember when storing it, S-L-O-W is the way to go.

It was a little nerve racking for the first 5 min on the road as all I have ever towed before were boats. Backing the 5th is definitely a little different that bumper pull trailers....doesn't respond as fast but it sure if more stable on the open road. Factory tow mirrors made it really easy to see down the side of the camper. Thinking about getting a backup camera....any recommendations?

Also, trying to find a good answer on storage. Our storage unit has 30A power. Should I keep the refrig on low and the AC on 80? We plan on using it at least every other week. Keep in mind we live in the deep south where it is always hot and humid between March and October.

Thanks!

Jason

Is the storage unit inside or outside? Mine 5er is parked alongside the house in Maryland. Summer is hazy-hot-humid! I have never kept the A/C nor the fridge going in between uses. I do keep the blinds closed to keep the sun from bleaching the inside. I also use tire covers to keep the ozone off the rubber as much as possible.

Never a problem. Had a '94 before this newer one....again, except for bleached curtains, no problems.

I agree with Bud, shut it all up and open the fridge when parked so that it airs out. That is all I have ever done.

Thanks for the info. I think I am going to go get a couple of tubs of DampRid to keep the humidity down and a box of baking soda for the fridge and go shut her down after work today. Our storage is covered....should I keep the power connected to keep the batteries toped off?

Thanks guys!

If you are going out within a few weeks it is not necessary for the batteries. Ensure you open that fridge so it can dry out, otherwise you will have mold.

I take my battery out at the end of the season.

You can leave the power on IF you have a battery tender built into your converter....if you don't, disconnect it as it will boil your battery (s).
