About to order some gauges soon. Trans gauges options are for 100-280 and 140-320 degrees. which one should i get? why the 2? and what is the normal and unsafe ranges for the tranny to be running at?
I would get the 100 - 280 degree... If you get to 280, your trans is probably toast.. I tried to keep mine temp below 210.. Normal running temp is around 140 - 160... give or take..
agree with everyone above. If you get into 320*, start looking for a new tranny. I have the Dipricol 3/4 sweep and it barely gets above 140* on a hot day. It is still nice for the full sweep to get a more precise reading on your actual temperature. My guess is you will see your truck "warm up" on the 100-280, but rarely see it register on the 140-320 gauge (maybe a bit more given your region). I do say that I like the "full" 3/4 sweep.
Are you guys happy with your DiPricol gauges? Any issues? Don't see many places selling them anymore. Also, how about boost. Any reason to get a gauge that reads more than 30lbs? i have a tuner and thats it. No plans to ever going crazy on the engine with turbos and injectors

I used ISSPRO gauges and I think they are ok. They are real easy to read for me. However, I chose the color without taking the night view into consideration. If I had to do it over again, I would have ordered the red needle and green illumination to match my stock dash. Oh well. I have zero experience with the DiPricol gauges...can you get them to match your dash? Some people care, others do not. Both ways are correct.
Sounds like a 30 psi boost gauge is good for your use. I think the wastegate pops off at 27 psi anyway....
My Trans temp gauge is 140-320, which sucks. The gauge hardly ever reads anything, even when it's 115 degrees outside. The only way I can get a reading is when I am in stop and go traffic during the dead of the summer or when I am towing. The problem is compounded because it's easy to get into the habit of ignoring this gauge because it never moves. If you ask me, it defeats the purpose of having a gauge if you never look at it.....
So, don't get the 140-320 trans temp. Go with the other one. If you tow anything heavy at all, I strongly recommend a supplemental transmission cooler. You will see what I mean as soon as you get your gauges.
The higher one is for a different application, Isspro makes gauges OEM for many different companies, boats and other... They have more gauges then you can shake a stick at...

This has been discussed a few times in the past. I'm pretty sure the DiPricols are not available anymore. Clay can tell you about it. He used to carry them until they started having supply problems.

Sorry for the delay. I love my Dipricols, but am curious what I'm reading about them not being sold? They have served me well for about 2 years. I love that they are crisp and work great. I got the green backlight and I think that they match the factory gauges quite well. Install was pretty straight forward. Hardest part was fishing the wires, and that was pretty easy if you followed the directions. Let us know when you install whatever brand you choose because there are some good power and ground places to pick from and some not so good.
Bandlgeorge, those gauges do look nice. Especially at night. Thank you for posting the pics. Now I'll be haunted every time I drive at night with my mis-matched gauges.
Bandlgeorge nice set-up I have the same one but i have the C2 gauges only diff is that my trans in in the top one and boost is in the middle im in cali and its been in the 70's and my trans has been running around 150 to 180 i have hit 190 once. Im from oregon and i am use to seeing my trany only run around 125 to 150 but its much cooler there are those temps ok ??? what do i not want to let my trans go over???

80-100 above air temps is normal, if your hitting 200-210 often then look at a added cooler or better cooling.
230, pull over, put the truck in neutral and let it idle.

Thanks for the comments. I agree with CSIPSD on the temps. I am in Southwest Washington and usually run around 50-60 above outside temps around town, with a Tru-cool cooler. I usually run 130 or less not towing, although my dad towed a 16k load last year and only got it up to 150*, but he wasn't rodding on it either. Not a very flat section of road he drove either, although it wasn't a mountain pass by no means.
