My dad has a 1977 f150 he bought about 25 years ago and got it running. But he works alot now and ive been working on trucks alot latley so im trying to fix some little things on it like this leaking fuel filter. Its the fuel filter for the fuel tank in the cab since its an early 1977 and its right under the driver seat. Ive considered taking it off and running an in-line filter down the line but i would like to find this filter first, he said its called a canister type filter but ive had no luck. What do you guys think? heres a picture of it from another forum im on Ford F150 Photos - IMG_00572
i would just change it to the inlinr fuel filter u can get those at any parts store and easyer to change. if ur tank is old u will want to change it often

This is an in-line fuel filter, but it's not original, a PO installed it.
The last year Ford factory installed an in-line fuel filter was in 1953 on Flathead V8's.
These trucks...as original have a fuel filter that threads directly into the front of the carburetor, has a nipple on it for the neoprene fuel hose to clamp onto.
