I'm still working on restoring my 1977 f150 4wd and I've run across another couple of questions.
My truck originally had two fuel tanks. One in the rear an another behind the seat. I've decided to not reinstall the in cab tank and just use the one tank in the rear. Where the old fuel tank selector valve was under the cab was a fuel filter. Now that I am not putting valve back in should I still put a filter there. How were they set up originally on trucks with only one tank?
While scrounging parts at the jy I noticed that the front center fuel brake line on other 4x4s ran up through the frame before attaching to the proportioning valve. My truck's frame has no hole for that line. There must have either been another type of brake line that did not go through the frame or a bracket that was attached to my frame. I'm considering drilling a hole.
Any help on these two issues would be greatly appreciated!
There wasn't a fuel filter in that location on any I've seen, someone probably installed one. These trucks generally have a filter at the end of the fuel float in the tank & one before the carb. I'd just put one on front of the carb. For the brake line, you could make a bracket or drill a hole & run them through. As long as they're not flopping around, you're good.
I too have a tank in the cab and I just have one before the carb. easy to get at. I would think you would'nt need one before that even using the rear tank.
