After reading the independent study results, I'm convinced to run 1 gallon of bio diesel to a tank of diesel. OR, I might try adding a bit of 2-stroke every tank; I know people that have used 2-stroke as an additive, for years. Interesting to see how some of the other "snake-oils" performed on independent testing.

No sweat.

I did the 2 cycle thing with my 96 PSD and got 430,000 miles before trading it in on this truck.

I wonder if the 2 cycle oil clogs up the turbo faster?

It is amazing how these things can change direction. All I was asking for initially was if anyone had used the "additive" I showed in my original post or heard of it. I take it it is safe to say "NO".
It is interesting to see what everyone is using though.

03-6L-x,

understood.

i've never even seen any of that product for sale.

because US diesel is "less greasy" than European diesel, i often add a quart of plain motor oil to fuel tank of -the mercedes 300D that i drive daily.

yours, TN46

Mack1,

fyi, i started the "quart of oil" in the tank "when you think about it", when my Mercedes mechanic said that i should. - as he has a total of EIGHT old Mercedes in his family (his whole family has 300D sedans/coupes/TDs.) that have well over a half-million miles each (on the first engine), i figured that he knew about that!

incidently, my '84 "Euro-spec", NON-turbo, 300D has run well over 240K miles with nothing but routine maintaince, a rebuilt alternator & 3 sets of tires.

i've put a little over 40K on it myself, i commute 46 miles per day & i paid 1700.oo for it = REALLY CHEAP commuter car.

yours, TN46

That's the funny part about this forum, about half the time a topic will change over the course of a thread. I've never run anything other than Diesel Service in my truck. I've heard from several sources the Staydyne stuff is top notch. It's just a little too rich for my blood and not available everywhere around my neck of the woods.

If your talking about 2-cycle engines compared to the 4-cycle....the 4 will get better mileage, assuming same displacement & chassis set-up. As far as the 2-cycle oil in the fuel...I have no clue. I just know what I've been doing with my truck the last 10k miles and what kind of mileage I'm getting.

I have used Stanadyne Performance in every fill up since new in my 04. I have never had a problem with any injector or anything (minor A/C problem) mechanical or electrical in my truck. It spends a lot of time parked. In the early 6.0's something was needed to keep them out of the dealer.

I also did a preventative1/2 bottle of Hot Shot Secret at 20 and 40K miles...Will do it at 60K when it gets there.......................................Good Luck

If you do run 2-stroke, everything that I have read says to use the ashless TCW-3. Probably less chance of build-up in the EGR or intake.
