well doing injectors really isnt that bad at all, its kinda fun. well i took my time cleaned out everything as well as organized while doingthis project. hit a few snags but it all turned out ok for a little bit. truck took about 5 mns to start but when she started she smoked like a pig! it also had a SWEET lope to it real slow and deep. but i rolled the truck up to finish cleaning and let her warm up then all of a sudden we started hearing a TERRBILE knock, but it was inconsistent so i figured it was air in the lines. so i took it for a ride then it dropped a cyclinder. oh great here we go again with these harness's. so i brought it back real slow and we gave travis a buzz to see what he thought, he said his truck made that same noise sometimes and to keep the chip on stock or pull it out. i did both and it didnt change. so this morning i said screw it!! pulling them all out and do it all over again. pulled the 3d injector and found this
realllly hope these have some kind of warrenty or something, hoping jimcan help me out!
and for the record this is waht a nice one is suposed to look like after itsbeen ran for 20 minutes
Did you clear the cylinders really good before you started it. Only time I've seen that is when one still had a lot of oil in it. It bent pushrods too.
yep, we took out the glow plugs and bumped it over a couple times, actually, a good amount of times lol ij trying to upload the video, i was admiring how cool it sounded then the first knock was in the video after about a minute of smooth running
ok listening to that video my truck DEFINITELY doesn't have any kinda knocks like that. mine every now and then i will hear a really low volume kind of tapping sound, but it's like nobody else can hear it i guess cuz i have asked a couple of guys if they heard it and they said no. the way i heard it described to me i thought that's what y'all were talking about, but that's not low volume at all. that's a definite miss. glad y'all found it though
Thanks for posting those pics, I emailed one to my supplier. Neither he nor I have ever seen any nozzle break like that, and I have never had one of my nozzles fail at all. Guess there's a first for evertyhing.
He won't warranty it, grumbled something about "...customer must have dropped it on the floor or something..."
But you'll have a new one tomorrow.
Let me know how it goes.
Jim I can assure you 100% the injector was never dropped, besides even if I did drop it, it with stands 1000s of pounds of pressure everysecond in he cylinder doesn't it? But I really appreciate it Jim your awsome
Steve,
An impact load from a heavy (3 lb) injector on a concrete floor can do some damage. I've had guys drop them in the past and want to just replace a nozzle anyway cuz you never know.
I'm not questioning you, but I can't argue with my supplier, either, he has a point and we'll never be able to prove to him it didn't happen.
sucks that it isn't warrantied... guess the only way to ever be able to prove it is to take pics of every injector WHILE your dropping it in the injector cup, but sounds like that may not even work with the way your supplier sounds... who knows. glad u figured it out and glad your getting it fixed up with no other damages hopefully.
