Bought a "new" truck. Dealer told me they tried to program a key fob to it, but it wouldn't work.
2006 XLT F-250 6.0 PSD 4x4 Supercab short bed
It has power door locks windows ect. I was a little surprised when they said it might not have had the OPTION of a key FOB. Kinda figured in today's market that the XLT made key FOB's a "standard feature.
Were they just feeding me a line of BS? or was this really an option back then?
If it was and I don't have it I am going to add on a remote start. Any suggestions for this?
You can always just try do the programming and see if that works. If you hear the locks cycle thru, then you have it on your truck.
Insert a key in the ignition and turn from OFF to ON eight times in rapid succession (within 10 seconds) with the eighth turn ending in the ON position.

It was an option on the XLT. Standard on Lariat and above. A big clue is the keypad on the drivers door. If you don't have the keypad, you probably don't have keyless entry. If you have the keypad, you definitely have keyless entry.
The procedure Scott suggested is good info as well.
