ok, Ive got a 97 f-250hd. 250000 plus miles. I have to turn it over at least 3 times before it starts to begin with. after it starts it lopes like a dragster for about a min. when I first take off its real weak and then takes off like a rocket. going down the highway at a maintained throttle it surges sometimes and I have an awful oil leak coming from the top of the engine somewhere. anybody have an idea where I should start??
First thing i would do is check the HPOP res and make sure its at least 1/2 from the top. Next is find out where that leak is coming from. If its coming from the HPOP itself or maybe a knick in the lines. I haven't had this problem, so im just guessing, maybe somebody else will chime in.
the hard to start is only its been sitting overnight. I live in Texas so it hasnt been getting cold. as for the oil and fuel filter change its been less than 300 miles. it just started kind of suddenly, I try to keep my engine fairly clean but I cant tell where the oil is coming from. It starts somewhere around the middle of the engine and goes back. It only leaks when I drive it.
