Advice on upgrades...?

I have decided that before I upgrade to more go-fast parts I want to upgrade or replace some of the more common problems that come up with our trucks... like sensors, o-rings, etc.

So I need your advice. What are the best things to upgrade or replace on a 173k powerstroke that will make it more dependable and run smoother and better.

So far I have 6637, 3" downpipe, 4" exhaust, PHP Chip, HPX, Shimmed FPR, big tranny cooler, replaced the CPS twice in the last year and a half...

I will be replacing my pushrods soon (i think I may have a bent one). Any advice is appreciated. I will be moving back across the country from NC back to Oregon in about a year when I am out of the military, so I need to get it ready for the trip.

Well, Daddy to be, I always concentrate on 'no oil leaks'. They drive me crazy. Good synthetic oil, good batteries, good belt. Yes about the gauges, I'm on a trip now and I swear I watch the EGT's as much as the road. You could replace all the sensors and keep the old ones as spares but I'm sure that's up for debate. I would change the antifreeze and check its SCA's. I put Shaffer's trans oil in and a new filter

My fluids are good, changed regularly. I do need to replace my serpentine belt...

Sometimes it idles a little rough, could that be IPR o-rings? I guess I'll see how it is after the pushrods are in.

Gauges for sure, Injectors if I can save up enough by then. And hopefully a upgraded HPOP also.

I'd say that changing the o-rings on all the HPO fittings would be a good idea if you wanted to do it, but most of mine are still factory at 308k miles. i have had a few HPO o-rings blow on me though and i will tell you now, IT SUCKS!!! in fact just last week i blew one of the o-rings on the HPOP fittings. it was an easy fix, but i was lucky that i was right around the corner from Cody's house and he had an o-ring for me to use otherwise i doubt i woulda made it home. also it would be worth it to fix up the fuel system some as well. we all know that the factory fuel system is prone to leaks in multiple places. Once mine started leaking it was a pain to get the whole system to keep from leaking. i'd fix one leak and next week there was another. that is why i said screw it and dropped the money on the CPR fuel system... Not because i really needed electric fuel, but more because i was really really tired of fuel leaks. I'd concentrate on getting the oil and fuel system done w/ some new stuff to prevent future leaks, change the belt and get another new one for a spare to keep in the truck, updated CPS(part number from my CPS thread, not the grey CPS) and a spare CPS as well, maybe IPR o-rings too... then comes brakes and front end components.

Congrats on becoming a father by the way!!

I was thinking IPR o-rings possibly. Front brakes are new, really need to go through the back brakes cause I havn't looked at them after swapping to the SRW axle.

How much is that updated CPS? More than the usual or the same?

Front end bushings probably need done too... Oh, and new shocks are on the list also.

Any other advice guys?

My idle kinda varries a little bit, even when warmed up. Maybe 100rpm or so, just a slight surge.
