So Im goin along, put on the brakes and It stops. But when on the brakes it gets soft. But if you pump them once they get hard again. But with the pedal down the brake pressure light comes on. But when you idle up it turns off. I put on front pads, and nothing changed. It has new shoes as of 3 months ago. Im not loosing fluid. What is my problem.....hey hey be nice Im talkin about my truck not me personally.

the first thing I would do is to readjust the rear brakes, purge for take any air in the system and check the brake fluid in the reservoir.
If I recall correctly when I was changing my brakefluid (yes someone does that) I ran into the same thing. If I remember correctly the proportioning valve got off center and had to bleed in certain sequence. Sorry can't remember sequence. It could also be you master cylinder, but since it started after replacing pads I would say the valve is off center. Or I may be a little off center.

Good Luck,

No it started on its own, and I then did front pads thinking it would stop, cuz they needed replaced. Umm could it possibly be the vacuum pump starting to go out. And If someone has the bleeding sequence that would be worth a try, just for giggles.
I dont know of any sequence. i get some to pump them 4or5 times and hold them down then undo the bleeder screw let the pedal go to the floor and hold close bleeder screw and repeat 3 times on each wheel checking fluid after each wheel

Ideally you should bleed the farest valve first then to the closest one, including the proportional valve in the sequence and totally agree with checking the brake fluid after each bleeding valve.

Thanks i didn't know that. how do you bleed the proportional vavle.
