Is there any surprises on replacing the brake pads on my 07 F150? Do I have to open the bleeder when I compress the caliper piston? If I don't do this will it mess up the Anti lock brakes? I also heard that you may need to take the truck to the dealer to have them bleed brakes. Is this right? I went with the ceramic padds to get rid of the dust and new rotors for the front, and just replacing the pads in the back. Do the back calipers twist or press straight? Do I need to loosen the bleeder for the back to?
Thanks
Matt
So just compress the caliper piston and dont worry about opening the bleeder. Thats how I've always done them, but never to a 07 F150 before.
Thanks
Matt

just remove the cap off the fluid reservoir and compress that piston. pretty easy and exactly like earlier models.
I wouldn't touch the bleed valves. Not unless you think you have air in the lines...or the fluid needs to be changed. Brake fluid is hydroscopic and needs to be changed out periodically over the years.

Agreed Tylus, but when using a c-clamp to push the piston in, do it at a slow rate - if you go to fast it will overflow the brake fluid chamber. I usually put a rag around the chamber so brake fluid doesn't go all over the engine compartment if for some reason I go to quick
ouch. I haven't heard of that as an issue with these trucks. Some older trucks had plastic pistons that would "grab" sometimes, but not what you're describing.
brake job easy should go same as in the 80's but the price is a little different not much to wory about just rear brakes a little tricky because of hand brake . before you start make sure EM brake works fine if not lube the cables
