I've never heard of them, who makes them and where do you get them. How much are they?
I was thinkin about an Interstate battery, since they are sold locally and I can get them taken care of locally at the parts house and such. I hate to deal with "out of town" folks.
I just bought a optima battery for my Corvette. 200.00 at pep boys.I was told to buy the yellow top optima if the vehicle is going to sit for long periods of time. I also bought a ctek battery tender that plugs into the cigarette lighter to keep to battery hold its charge will sitting for long periods.
I have a 6 volt optima in my 46 merc. It sits sometimes 6 or 7 weeks between starting. I do not use any charger or tender on it. It stayed nearly full charged even after sitting for months and cranks like it just came off a charger. It's 4 years old. and never been touched. Cables don't corrode since no acid fumes during the time it is charging.
Other side of the coin you can buy maybe 3 regular 6 volt battery's for the cost of one optima. My stores only warranty the 6 volts for one year.
I am just now having to replace the red top optima in my bronco. It's been under the hood for 10yrs and the truck sometimes sits for up to three months between starts. I've never had an issue with it till now.
My neighbor has a 1998 F150 with the OEM battery. He put some stuff called EDTA in it when it was new. It sits outside year around and sometimes is only stared once or twice in a week but starts right up on the coldest days. He about has me convinced to try the stuff on my next battery.
