Well,
$249.99 + $85 core + a new $140 850CCA battery I didn't need I am happy
(or not)
13.2V at rest 14.6 while charging
Oh, and I decided to install a new solenoid while I had everything torn apart. Genuine Motorcraft, from the dealer.
Guess what......
The d@#^ thing fused on the first crank.

On a similar note.............I knew a guy who had the same troubles exactly, after spending 300 bucks on cables, solenoid, ign. switch, alt, battery........no fix.
The final word was.............cigarette lighter had jammed in the contact position and was red hot constantly!......he did not smoke, never even looked at the thing. Someone had pushed it in and cost him $300 bucks!
Lucky it did not burn to the ground!
