I have a fresh set of decent batteries, but they seem weak when the truck sits for a few days. Weather here around Seattle is mild, barely below freezing at night. Alternator seems to charge the batteries just fine.
Using a multimeter, I'm getting a 150 milliamp draw in the key-off state. Is that normal for the "keep alive memory" and such? I pulled every fuse and relay, and it's that #15 fuse (powers the keep alive memory) that accounts for 130 mA.
Disconnecting the alternator made no difference. So, any ideas? Is that 150 mA too much? Thanks.
Subscribing. I haven't measured it, but I have weak batteries after a few days of sitting in the "cold". They're only a year old. I'll be curious to see what you find out.
I haven't measured mine but they are 5 years old and I never plug it in and temps got down to -25 3 weeks ago. I just cycle the glow plugs twice and she starts right up. I have two Interstate Megatrons.
So that fuse #15 also supplies the General Electronic Module (GEM), which may occasionally go bad. I'll try disconnecting the GEM and retesting the current draw.
Again, does anyone know the correct amp draw for a truck in sleep mode? I'd like to know what I'm shooting for. Thanks.
