i have a 93 f250 and i cannot for the life of me figure out how to get out the headlight bevels (plastic part that is chrome around headlight). I have the two top screws out and the two bottom ones. There is one more near the fender that i cannot get to, i can see it but can't get to it, do i need to take off the fender for this one? any ideas? trying to replace radiator support
I just changed my fender yesterday so I know all about it
Pop the hood and you will probably have to remove accessories depending on which side you're on (rad fluid/washer fluid tank or battery etc.).
There are two access holes through the rad support just under the headlights. Just feel in there with your finger and you'll know the ones I mean. I believe I used a 14 mm socket and the bezels will come out with those two loosened as well as the two screws you removed above.
Now I just wish I could get everything aligned as good as original
Headlight bezel comes off w/ sidemarker light & turnsignal light as an assembly (like Doug said) w/ 2 screws under hood & 2 nuts thru rad support to headlight mounting panel. Sometimes the stud the nuts are attached to unthread from the back of the turnsignal light, if they do don't worry. After you've removed the assy, grab the stud from the ft of truck w/ vise-grips & remove nut. May have to spray it to get loose. When you put it back together put the studs back in the light then put some antisieze on the studs before you nut them up again. (I chase the threads w/ a die as well, but I've got minor OCD about some things LOL)
Doug, what trouble are you having w/ lining up your fender? I always start at the back and leave everything loose/snug so it still moves if you push or pull but doesn't go back to where it was & not tight. Set the height of the fender to match the body lines first (back bolt of 2 under hood shim up or take out). Then set the door to fender gap ft to back (can measure w/ tape, paint sticks or eye) and snug up bottom rear fender bolt. Then move forward to set the fender to hood gap. You may have to drop hood latch out of rad support till you get it all lined up, and the bracket on the fender to the rad support needs to be loosened on both fender & support. Side to side is set on top of support & up & down is set on fender w/ this bracket. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the fender adjustment tips. I just got it on before dark Friday night and haven't had a chance to adjust yet. I plan to attempt the passenger fender tomorrow and will attempt to get everything lined up right.
