Hey guys first of all I'm new here. I have a 78 bronco 460/c6/twnp205...
About 1 month ago my trans took a dump. So me and a buddyof mine rebuilt it. Now the trans is slipping and has a hising noise when ever u rev it...it doesn't mater if it's on PRND21...we did put in a shift kit...i checked the fluid and it's super burned..it is brown and smelled like eggs.. I thought it was the pump so I changed it, but that did not fix the isue..now could this be a bad torque converter or something whent bad in the valve body....I'm at a lost
Did it shift into all of the gears before the trans went south?
Did you use an old converter when you put this thing together?
You mentioned the pump? This was a new pump right? You did not re-use the old one?
Adjusted the bands correctly?
Any number of things can cause this, but if the fluid is that bad now, chances are great that you have cooked another transmission.
OMG...I really hope not. And yes the torque converter was new,and the pump was repuilt. It will go threw all the gears fine when it's cool but when it wormes up it starts sliping. But the hissing won't go away.
I know very little about autos, but if it's hissing all the time it might be an internal leak or problem with the pump. Can you get video or audio so we can hear the hiss?
