Question Auto trans to stick

I have a 78 bronco with 351m and i think c6 trans.I would like to put a stick shift in it.How hard is it and does it cost alot.

You'll need the pedal assembly from a donor truck and the clutch linkage (or plumbing, if it's hydraulic).

You also might have to modify driveshaft lengths if the manual is a different length than the auto.

You'll also have to make sure that the trans bellhousing pattern matches your motor, and that the new tranny will bolt up with your transfer case.

You'll have to disconnect the kickdown rod from the carb, and disconnect/remove the linkage for the auto, too.

It's a pretty involved project.

lots of work. you'll need to change the balancer on the 351 to a stick setup too. you're best bet i agree, is to find a donor truck, preferably one that already has a 351/stick setup already. what trans are you bolting up?

Thanks guys for the input.that was fast.I was thinking about the 87 F250 I just got but it sounds like more work than I need to do.I will probably leave the bronco alone and have two toys to play with.Thanks again.

what year trucks had/have linkage. i swapped my auto for a tremec 5speed & am running a hydralic setup & hate it. i need linkage or cable. was going to make something but easier if it is already made. i have a 94 150. so any help would be appriciated.

they started throwing in hydraulics around 85-86. what's the complaint with the hydraulic? it took some getting used to, but now i prefer it.

i would prefer it also but it seems there is not enough travel in the clutch. i either can shift into gear easy & it slips when i get on it. or slight grinding going in but i can get on it & it holds. im not using the stock setup just the master w/a CNCslave on a centerforce dual friction.
