Different carb, timing is ok, fuel pressure ok, replaced every vacuum line but my truck still dies, runs rough and back fires out the carb & exhaust after it warms up. I am about fed up with it. Dont know what else to check.
I was having issues with dying and rough running, I went the vacuum route and such also, I finally changed the pickup coil in the distributer and the ignition control module and it purrs like a kitten now.

My ignition control module tested good at the local parts store. Do you have a picture of the pickup coil or a part number?
the autozone website has pictures it is part # F107 on their website
On a side note mine tested good as well, so I bought the cheap 20 something dollar one and kept the old one as a spare, I can't say exactly what part fixed it as I changed both at the same time.
Not to sound stupid or anything but are you sure 2 plug wires are not switched?? When I put mine back together I got in a hurry and goofed up putting the wires on and it idled ok but backfired out the carb and exhaust when I gave it any throttle. My timing was dead on with the light.

Just because the ignition module tested good at the parts house doesnt mean that it is good, if the sales rep knew what he was doin he woulda told you this. I have seen them test good when they are cooled off, then as soon as they get warm, they fail again.
Your timing is NOT okay. Especially if it's backfiring through the carburetor.
Does the truck dies instantly, or shaken to death?
After it warms up it will start running rough and then if you give it gas it will run extremely rough with no rpm gain and sometimes it will back fire through the carb and/or exhaust. It does shake, sputter, pop and even sometimes it will "diesel".
Dieseling is too much timing I beleive, someone can correct me on that if I'm wrong. Also, I am with vtjvt with crossed wires, or even a bad wire. I was driving one day and it started running a little rough and backfired a little bit, popped the hood and the #4 wire had somehow backed off the plug (must not of snapped it like I thought). So it could be bad wires, crossed wires, timing off, bad pick-up coil (which you can see when you take the dizzy cap off, it's what the wires hook into for quick referance), or a mixture of all. I also concur that your timing is not ok, it may read okay with a light, but your dampener start to read wrong after so many years of wear. Does the timing look like it jumps around when you set a light to it?
