I replaced the oil sending unit today and the truck seems to run alot better even after it warms up. The sending unit was spraying oil out of the top. I wonder if that would create some kind of a vacuum leak?

I also noticed now that my fuel pressure is fluctuating between 4-7psi. Fuel pump going bad maybe? I am still going to replace the magnetic pickup, ignition coil and egr valve.

I am almost certain it is electrical, I would test all the plug wires with a ohm meter, change the pickup coil, and I would even swap out the ignition control module. Worse case is the module is good you will have a spare and they fail at the worst times.

These old gas burners are kinda new territory for me, but after almost 20 years as a heavy diesel mechanic I think I hate electrical issues the most.

How do i test the plug wires with an ohm meter? Like what setting on the meter and what not?

General rule of thumb is: Less than 7000 ohms of resistance per foot of wire is good, more than that, replace.

So i took the truck out for a drive today. It started running really rough again and backfiring. I kept pushing on the gas cuz i needed to make it back home...lol...all of a sudden it threw me back in my seat and took off like a bat out of hell. It came out of running like crap and ran like a champ. I dont get it.
