You wouldn't need a pick up tube & screen , if it was cleaned & inspected good ....Lew

That is how it works in almost any engine, when the oil warms up and you are at a low rpm your oil pressure is not going to be as high as when you are running at a higher rpm because the oil has to flow faster at higher rpms. And when your oil is cold it does not flow as well which would also cause your oil pressure to be higher too. How low and how high of oil pressures are you running? And what weight of oil are you using?

I asume you have an OP gauge & the oil pressure goes to 0 then the truck dies ??? When the motor starts to stop runing your going to lose OP because the oil pump will slow down & stop ....Lew

yes normal gauge. but why is the truck dieng when i go stop? it runs fine til i go to stop then motor dies and restart it to leave every light? i hadda put it in nuetral keep rpms up at a light just so it dont die.

It sounds like you may have other engine issues...

What makes you think the pump went out? no oil pressure, all lifters collapsed and clattering?

Even with no oil pressure, heck no oil in it, it would still start and run.

What trans?

Check it for trouble codes, even if the light isn't on?

Could be many things.

No vac lines knocked off?

Still not getting the full story here, how did you know that pump was out. What drew you to that conclusion? what all did you replace with it?

Anything with the distributor?

There is nothing to tell the motor to shut down with a total loss of oil pressure, its just not that smart.

Unless yours has something my 5.8 doesn't, and the manual doesn't list it either?

i stopped at friends house house the motor just died. i went to start it back up there was no oil pressure so i towed it home pulled the oil filter it was dry so i replaced the oil pump was told to just clean pickup screen put new gasket on it a new oil pressure sensor and gave it a oil change used 10 w 30. truck started right up with oil pressure then i drove it for bout 20 min and all of a sudden i stopped at a light and lost oil pressure truck died. i waited a bit checked oil started up ran good til hadda stop again. towed it back devastated! my first ford i love the bodystyle! lol
