This is one of my peeves with my truck at the moment as well. I cant seem to find a fix either to keep my sun visors up where they are supposed to be and it drives me nuts! The only solution I've come up with is to convert to XLT/Lariat style sun visors that have the support on the inside ends to support the visor.

When I did the license plate interior on my truck, I bent up a couple small brackets that the visors slide into to hold them up.

I had the same trouble with both my visors. I put some small, powerfull magnets on the trim at the front of the roof, which help them in place there, but they still bounce around if you had to move them.

I finally just went to the junk yard and pulled some out of an '93. They require drilling one new hole in the cab roof (for the center support clips), but otherwise bolt right in.

I think when i head back to the junkyard in a few days I'm going to get the sun visors out of the truck i got my seat from, just to solve this issue once and for all.

I have a set of the newer retainer clips, but I haven't looked at them in awhile. Is it possible to just enlarge the center of the opening so our 80-86 visors just rest in the opening?I know that currently they won't fit in there unless you cut some of the material off.

You can install a set of later visors, 87+ along with the clips, it works fine

1980-1986 does not have the center clips.

1987-1996 have the center clips.

Just get the visors and center brackets out of any 1987/1996 F-truck.

Also 1987-1991 Customs, and Base Models have vinyl visors that closely match the originals.

Just be extremely careful when you drill the holes for the mounting of the center clip. The roof is double walled but if you get too zealous you may just drill a hole through your roof.
