Just had my 2003 v10 rebuilt by mechanic; took motor out replaced broken rod, bent rod, crank and bearings and oil cooler; put back into EX; runs like a champ for about 3 minutes and shuts off. Any ideas on what's wrong? Thanks for the help!
Can you provide more info? "shuts off", like stalls? Does it crank afterwards? Does it start and run for another three minutes? do you still have dash lights etc? on your brief explination it sounds like a ground issue to me but thats a very big guess.
And welcome to FTE!
Thank you Stratus225 ... I'm trying to get more details; probably won't be able to talk with the mechanic again until Monday am. Will post more details as soon as possible. Again, thank you!
Here's an update from the mechanic ... it runs for approx 3 minutes then shuts off ... he waits 3-5 minutes and it starts up again ... runs 3 minutes and then shuts off ... this happens during idle not when shifting out of park ...
He describes it like the timing becomes advanced or retarded a bit and it dies. He said he wants to eliminate the transmission out of the equation; he will test the mock-sensor (spelling?), the cam position sensor; the crank position sensor.
He did say that it is not running out of gas and doesn't appear to be running lean or rich) in regards to fuel mixture)
