Yeah did one section of hardy plank a couple of weeks ago. Just about killed myself with the heat.
Going to wait til it gets a bit cooler to do any more. I did fix the wood rot issue on the back of the house, and did install a brick patio in an atrium in the house. (what a pain in the a**) I am having heaving issues do to the clay underneath, eventually I will get around to fixing that as well.
Justin
I put crushed granite down first then a light layer of heavy sand and then broom brush and then laid the bricks and then sand cover then top brush it with a broom the light water for 2 days and sand cover again and brush and water and you should be ready to go. I also used the nail down plastic outter edge frame.
But it still was a serious pain especially when I hit my thumb with the mallet. lol
haha yeah. The problem that I had with mine was that I did not want to bring the over-ex thru the house over the carpet. There is no exterior access to this atrium.
I tried to do it as cleanly as possible. I am probably going to have to lay down some sort of gravel or something like you did. It was initially laid perfect, but then we got some good rain a while back, and before you knew it, the ground had heaved. Either way it looks 1000% better than before and I am happy with the results.
The hardest part was hauling almost 2800 lbs of pavers into the house by myself.

Man I know what you mean. Hows those finger tips. ha
Hey school me on the hardy plank, I have been thinking about taking off the wood around my chimney exit house and doing a hardy plank cover, just have never messed with any of it.
It is a pain. I had never laid it myself until this time.
I had done some vinyl siding in the past and used some of those techniques for this siding. I was just browsing the internet and thought that this video might be of use to you.
I actually talked with a neighbor of mine (works for the township) since the small area that I did was considered more of a repair, I did not need to get anything. If I decide to do the rest of the house for cosmetic reasons, I will need to get one.
