Ok, getting back to the general chat theme, and away from junk removal........
Round 3 of the classic truck championship is over, and it seems my ol' truck has a few fans besides just my family. I guess since it has now won a spot in the finals, I oughta give the ol' girl a bath......
Finally got the RX7 out for coneage (autocross) yesterday. Aside from being a bit "breezy", the weather was great. The car ran great, and other than some minor tire rub issues, thanks to the damaged rear quarter, everything was great. Brought home yet another 1st place trophy in CSP.
I just dunno what's redder, my F150, my RX7, or my arms/neck........ Yepperz, I'm "officially" a redneck, at least for a few days.
I don't feel this was a big enough to start a new thread.
What year were power windows first offered in the '80-'86 trucks? (Those are the first years they were available)
I'm not new, Just never really interested in '80-'86 trucks, until recently.
I should be going to the junkyard today...there are a couple of F-Series with power windows. I'll check the door tags and see what the earliest one is, maybe that will help answer your question.
Well people, it seems I have one of three problems: Either my new gauge cluster, at least the gas gauge part of it, is bad; or my sending unit in my rear gas tank is messed up; or I'm getting 2mpg. My truck runs like a top, but the gas gauge tells me that I ran out a quarter tank of premium gas in 3-4 miles. On a 302 with a C6 and 2.75 gears...
I'm convinced it's the gauges. I never had this problem prior to putting in the new gauges. In fact, I filled the tank last week or the week before, and it lasted me a whole week, to the day. Now the gauge needle drops just going a block from my house.
I wondered that too. But today I filled it up to 1/4 tank, and I did about 10 miles of driving, and the gauge actually acted normal. Barely moved from 1/4, which would put me at around 10-12mpg (I can live with that). But then, first big bump I come to, the gauge suddenly tells me I'm almost to the Empty line. I'd say that almost sounds like a sending unit, since if the truck sits for a while, the gauge usually goes back up. I'd use the other tank but it's been unused in 5-6 years. I don't even want to think about what kind of gunk is in there....lol
Oh and today I went to the junkyard and got a pair of like-new 1980 clear parking light lenses for $10. One of them has a little chunk broken out of the notched opening for the light bulb socket though, so the socket doesn't fit right. I have duct tape, however, so the problem shall soon be rectified. :P I noticed someone snagged the driver side door off the F250 on the lot, and as a result, I somehow discovered that the truck has a tilt column. So I might see about picking that up if it's any good. The latching mechanism and stuff seemed nice and tight, nothing felt sloppy at all. I just don't know if it matters that the truck it's in is a diesel.
