I just recieved the latest flash on my 05 yesterday and the truck now feels like it has less power. It just feels like it's less responsive but it may need some more miles for the system to calibrate itself.

I have heard a number of people here say they get less MPGs and reduced performance with the newer flashes; I was even told this by the diesel guy at the local dealership, which is why I opted to stay where I was...

Typically your 04 flashes were the best all around flashes, which is why when you send off your FICM to get flashed to the a/m places they use flashes from that time period.

That's interesting... I have an '06 with what I presume to be the factory flash (08/05 mfg date) I am always looking for ways to increase my fuel economy; I'm at 16-18 hwy currently.
I got the Nov,Dec./09 flash 2 months ago and have seen no power or mileage consequences attributed to it. I am happy with it both for the ficm help it supplies and having the eot/ect warning capability. I can also hear the turbo being exercised during idle periods. Win/Win situation in by book unless they find another glitch in the programming down the road. If you are having problems after this flash I would say it was either not done correctly or there was a problem already there and it is just now rearing its ugly head.
VXCF4 was considered a pretty good flash by tuners because it didn't restrict things as much as the latter ones. VXCF9 sounds like a decent flash as well. I'd say either leave it be, or switch to the newest if you want improved cold starts.
