Choosing a flash

My buddy is a mech and has all the flashes for the 6.0. He said I can have any of them. What one should I chose?
My flash is VXCF4.

Im not sure if I want vxcf9 because of the mpg drop, and I don't need better cold starts.

Any help would be great.
Thank you

Get the one from the 04 yr. If I remember correctly, that was the best one as far as power goes(and being able to tweak that power with custom tunes). I think that's what program that the people put on their truck when they get their FICM tuned.

The '06 I'm selling has VXCF1. It runs great, strong low end (better than my '03 with VXAP1) and gets great mileage. If he has them all, why not try them both? I'd probably just get the newest one though for the recent benefits and inductive heating.

Would you please define, "great mileage"? Thanks.

I think he is actually looking for numbers, although, even if he does get the numbers doesn't mean that he will actually see that same improvement or an improvement at all if he were to get that flash. The joys of MPGs and it's calculations.

Yes, looking for real numbers. I understand that the same changes do not yield the same results from one truck to another. I am simply curious. "great", is very subject to interpretation.

Thanks guys

With VXCF1, according to the lie-o-meter (haven't hand calculated it yet) I've gotten 22.8mpg running 55 and almost 22 running 65mph.

I am curious to know how your buddy is able to choose which flash he installs? Is he using the Ford IDS? or is it some aftermarket scan tool/programmer?

Programs like DashDAQ-PC allow for programming computers. You just have to use a special mongoose that doesn't come with the program and that only is a few hundred dollars(I think 5 or 6).

Plus, that's really what people that tune FICMs do. They can extract the old programs, save them has .hex files and then archive them, use them later depending on their needs.
