brake lines

I'm re-doing brake lines on a 87' F-250 (front disc, rear drum) ..

I'm ordering bulk line and nuts along with the flaring tool ..

what size lines do I need ?

anything 'not - standard' as far as nuts and flaring ?

TIA

Restoring this truck? If and just replacing rusty lines why go through all that?

Why not simply buy premade lines in the lengths needed off the rack at the auto parts and bend them to fit in place?

Double flared, cheap fast and easy to do.

Some of the lines will use different fitting sizes at either end, the small adapter needed is readily available with the lines.

line and adapter,

<P>

i would have to second that as well they are cheep enough and way way less of a pain in the *** most parts places will have a good selection in store and most of it comes with the coil around it that alone i think is extra good

Restoring this truck?
yeah, kinda .. got in too too deep when "doing a simple cab and motor swap' .. ended up stripping it down to a rolling frame to give the frame a coat of rust 'resistant' paint ..

looking to redo all the brake lines and hoses .. gonna buy a coil of the pretty powder coated stuff, the nuts I need and gonna need the tool to do the flaring .. figure it's the better way to go .. unless I need multiple sizes ..

actually thinking I might be able to do the long fuel line runs with the 'pretty powder coated stuff' as well .. thoughts and ideas ?? ( if I could loose the 'Ford Quick Connect Fuel Fittings' I'd pay extra )

the coil stuff is for easier bending with out bind.

not really needed if you have a 3 dollar bending tool.

you do not go at it like that.

i replace a whole line and match the ends.

to many variables to just say this size.

not the nuts .. the tube .. it all sure looks the same size

I have a good bending tool, and a flaring kit for plumbing .. but I need a different flaring tool for the brake lines, correct?

Lines are all 3/16" and the fittings differ depending on location.

And no you can not use a plumbing type flaring kit for brake lines.

Brake lines use a double flare, need a special anvil to do it.

See here,

Can't you just order the lines from l.m.c prebent and ready for the truck. Then if you wanted them powder coated you could take them in or do it yourself if you have the knowledge.
