NiCopp brake line flaring problems

Anyone have issues flaring their own NiCopp brake lines? I've flares plenty of steel lines in my day using the same cheapy flaring tool an have never had an issue. I recently had to replace a line on my truck and opt'd to use copper so I bought a roll. I can't seem to get the flares to center properly. I could make a million excuses why I'm have trouble but since I can flare a steel line without trouble I'm 98% sure it's not me... Just wondering if anyone else has or has had issues.

Guess I'm goin to do the lines in steel but would still like to figure out why.

Thanks!

i only use nicopp lines now for the past 5-6 years.
and i have no problems flaring, but i also only use an inline flaring tool.
after using the inline flare tool at a buddies shop, i bought one and threw the old fashioned clamp type flare tool in the garbage.

thanks! so I'm not alone in the idea that the 3-parts clamp tools are garbage.

I ended up taking the lines down to my local mechanics shop (my father has been an all-star customer there for 25+ years so we know the guy) and for $10 he flared two separate lines for me. Much cheaper than buying an inline tool...or a hydraulic inline flareing tool...which if I had the money to invest into unique automotive tools I would buy one in a heartbeat. Unfortunately this is the first brake line I've had to do in over a decade... the hydraulic inline one is on my wish list for when I win the lottery though.

thanks,

I have no experience with steel line but recently did all the lines on my E350 van with nicop, I used a small flare tool from napa, it works a charm.
