Not a pain at all. But if it's the stock DP, you'll want to cut it in front of the trans X-member. It might be worth spraying some PB Blaster on the DP clamp on the turbo before hand. I didn't when I put mine on and I had no issues with it, but others have.
alrite so im assuming that i will need to remove my turbo when i take the down pipe off and also is there a picture where i should cut above the trans cross member?
No need to remove your turbo, your just poppin off the exhaust side downpipe clamp off and removing it pulling it down past the trans cross member, the reason your cutting the DP before the CM so you can get it out.
alrite good deal...after doing some reading im assuming that the downpipe im gettin with the exhaust system is a two piece for ease of installation?
No, the downpipe your getting is one piece and will end just before the crossmember then you'll connect the pieces after that acordingly. The reason your cutting before the crossmember is the stock system is welded, its just as easy to cut it out instead of trying to get it out of there, sometimes there's no other way than to cut.
Bob, it took two of us 45 mins to put a 4" system on my truck.
Did the PB blaster the night before,
Next day, at 12:00, took a sawzall to the exhaust system, first cut was made just before the crossmember, next cut right after the muffler. I had a pipe with me to put into the down pipe for leverage if needed, but it came free real easy. when we dropped the up pipe, we just went ahead and fed the new one up, clamped it into position, do not do this tight, because you may need to fiddle with it after the rest of the system is up. Pretty easy job.
DO THE PB BLASTER!!!! Mine was on good & tight, so I ended up dropping the truck off at a local muffler shop for the removal & install. Total time was 2hrs for them to do it, with over an hour just to get my DP off!!! This was also November in CO (i.e. COLD) and I did not use any PB. After your engine is warmed and you've parked it, give it an hour to cool a bit, but then spray with PB while that clamp is still warm. The "V" part of mine was REALLY STUCK on.
Buy a spare exhaust clamp to have handy, just in case. You can always return it if you don't need it, but if you do need it and don't have it....
